I'm kinda OK with code sometimes :)

Within software development topics, I'm particularly interested in:

principles for writing readable and maintainable code

software architecture, particularly at large scales

coaching good developers to be excellent developers

development practices for safety-critical software

designing for usability

actually-good i18n

For privacy's sake I prefer not to say where I work--but I'm proud to know that my software provides real, tangible benefits to humankind. Despite our flaws, I really believe that we're the good guys.

I'm not a recruiter, but I like having great coworkers. If you're a great software developer who wants in on the feeling of making the world better through your work, feel free to ping me.

The work is (very!) hard and the reward is high. You'll be given problems to solve, not specs to implement. Requires a lot of responsibility. Full-time; this is not consulting or temp work. Average work-week is ~45-50 hours: we give people a sane amount of work and expect them to either get it done or to speak up early. If you aren't confident that you can learn any software language/technology we throw at you and write excellent code with it, you might not be adaptable enough for this job. We do hire entry-level devs, but just be aware that this will be harder than your internships. Experienced devs quite welcome as well. Beautiful workplace. Two-person offices--not cubes or open workspaces. Paid training. Small yearly travel requirement, sane expenses paid.

We have our faults, but on the whole we are the good guys. If you can cut it, this is an amazing job.
