    1. COAre you sure that the data is actually UTF-8 encoded? I'm not familiar with i2d_PrivateKey but your results suggest you're not using the right string encoding.

COCalling delegate methods has nothing to do with whether the class is declared as implementing the protocol-- the run time will determine dynamically if the method is available, and the declaration only matters at compile time. If you did declare the protocol, I think we'll need more code to be certain what's going on.

    3. COWhat instruments are you using to check memory usage? I'd look at "allocations" and "activity monitor", both of which can show memory usage that gets missed by the leaks instrument. Also, what is this code supposed to be doing anyway? You want to create 1000 image views but then get rid of them without using them?
