    1. COYes, this is one way. Agreed. But I should have explained better. How about a way to do it on the fly, so that the Archives can be written to a sandbox/workspace in an automated build system (and thus will be discarded when that workspace is cleaned, amongst other benefits) ?

    2. COYou can control the root location of other xcodebuild build artifacts with the argument DSTROOT="preferred/result/directory", but that doesn't work with `xcodebuild archive`. I am trying to find out to control the same thing and am not having any luck. I have looked here: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/DeveloperTools/Reference/XcodeBuildSettingRef/1-Build_Setting_Reference/build_setting_ref.html ... but it hasn't helped, even though it seems like a good place for such info.

    3. COI don't think it's fair to just say "Good practices would dictate that you take that mounted directory out of your PATH and the warning will go away." I'm maintaining a ruby-based tool that is used by hundreds of developers. It's not my job, nor is it ruby's job, to be their policy enforcer for permissions on their path directories. And as you say, -W0 masks other, more pressing problems that have nothing to do with sloppy permissions behaviors. There ought to be a more targeted solution to this unwanted message.
