<p>Programmer since the good old, bad old days of punch cards. You name it, I've probably bashed against it - or at least ran away screaming: "<em>Dot Net is Coming ! Dot Net is Coming !</em>" </p> <p>I do some technical writing, editing, and translate German to English. I also do design work in electronics, art, and (building) architecture. <br /><br /> - <strong>Architecture:</strong> project and topology planning, systems assessments. <br /> - <strong>Server-side:</strong> web services, middleware, systems integration. <br /> - <strong>Client-side:</strong> Mobile, web, and desktop client GUIs, middle-to-top tier integration. <br /><br /> Know > 30 programming languages: 10 pretty good, 5 as expert. Favorites: Python, C/C++, Java, Objective-C [ yes, I really do like it ], ASP (the good old, not.net kind), PHP, Bash, and the sweetest little language since Ruby and just before Boo: <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Io_%28programming_language%29" rel="nofollow">IO</a>. { Sorry, Bill, but I don't like <em>Anything</em>.Net ( Well, OK, I'll do C# if you pay me <em>really</em> well :) }</p> <p>Favorite IDE's / Editors: Eclipse, UltraEdit, and really a cool one: Sublime. 1. COThe problem is that the OP problem happens on a handful of Samsung S3's with 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 but not other S3's with the same versions of the OS. The problem ones are T-mobile. I've already wasted too much time on it, am throwing in the towel, and will just check and hardcode for those phones. That works, but it's a hack. If I do have another odd one like this, I'll set up a GitHub repo w/complete code (I have not had need to do that yet). Thanks again for your time.

    2. COThe intent data object passed as parm to onActivityResult() can be null, even though the camera took the picture and saved it to storage. It's a PITA. There are numerious posts about this, including at least one bug report to Google/Android as some people (like me) consider this a bug, not an oversight. You would (and should) expect the camera to tell you where to find that photo you just took, otherwise how could you even use it? Pretty lame.

    3. COThanks, as I said in the OP, I tried many things, including the same thing as your recipe. Out of consideration for your efforts on my behalf, which I do appreciate, I did try your recipe ("again") before responding before earlier, of course. It still doesn't work. ... strong winds are blowing that Samsung wants to out-Google Google, dumping Android in favor of Tizen ... our pain has only begun ... try using their "webkit" if you don't believe the rumors.
