    <p>I was always interested in programming and did my first steps with <em>Basic</em>. After that I switched to <em>Visual Basic</em>, <em>Delphi</em> and even some <em>Assembler</em>.<br> As I began my first studies (electrical engineer) I was introduced in <strong>Java</strong> and noticed that my former programming knowlege was much too insufficient. As my studies went on I was much more interested in programming as in my major subject, so I broke up studies and began an apprenticeship as a developer, in which I successfully graduated.<br> Since then I work as a JavaEE developer for: </p> <ul> <li>Server-side development <ul> <li><strong>EJB 2.x</strong> and <strong>EJB 3.x</strong></li> <li><strong>WebServices</strong></li> <li>MVC programming with <strong>JSF 2.x/Servlets</strong></li> <li><strong>JPA</strong> with Hibernate</li> <li><strong>JavaMail</strong></li> </ul></li> <li>Client-side development <ul> <li>GUI with <strong>SWT and JavaFX</strong></li> <li>developing <strong>Workflow- and Data-Management-Systems</strong></li> <li>a bit of <strong>Android</strong> programming</li> </ul></li> </ul> <p>I also do the related stuff like server administration and consulting but thats not my primary assignment and therfore I have to learn a lot.</p> <p><em>[cheesy]</em> like the good programmer I want to become I'm intersted in everything crossing my way and I'm glad that I found Stackoverflow for showing me alternative ways to reach my goal.<em>[/cheesy]</em></p> <p>Thats it. <strong>Have Fun!</strong></p>

    1. COI've monitored the Quartz threads in my environment (Glassfish 3.1.1) at the beginning and couldn't find any unnessacery/unmanaged threads but I stumbled upon an old bug-report causing this (especially in combination with spring). Seemes to bie fixed since 2.0.2. Cheers!

    2. COI stick with my statement that you delegated the transaction management to the server and therfore it holds references to objects. Because of this mangement the server is able to delay a commit which should normaly already be performed. You said you use distributed transactions: Therefore you should close **YOUR** connection to make sure that the server can commit/rollback the transaction after all transactions have finished. Cheers!

    3. COYour right, the `-Xms` value should be set to the `-Xmx` value. Sorry, for now I don't have any references at hand (just a bug-tracker about GC not executing after multiple redeploy) but I can recommend [this](http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19316-01/820-4343/abeic/index.html) and [this](http://www.jroller.com/agileanswers/entry/preventing_java_s_java_lang) article about tuning especially the garbage colection. They helped me solving this in my environment! Cheers!

A row detail
