    1. COCan you clarify your question? Your code above works fine if func() returns an iterable with two elements. In the first case you split the elements into val1 and val2, and in the second you assign the list (or tuple) to val.

    2. COThanks for the the answers, I understand now that the function is agnostic to what's on the left side and returning tuple can partially solve the task.

    3. COIt depends on what exactly you are after, but maybe enumerate cabe help... for key, item in enumerate(something) : will assign to key and item the values: 0, something[0] 1, something[1] ...
