I'm creating a sharepoint Web database using Access 2010. I have a button that brings up a continuous form (or I've tried datasheet) with data filtered. I want to allow for new records, but those records should have the filtered field default to whatever I filtered on. So, if I show a list of books by Author, and create a new record, the Author should default. In fact, I don't even want the user to see that field, since they will only ever get to this form/datasheet on a filtered basis. I've googled all over, and perhaps I'm searching for the wrong thing.

1. COPerhaps I didn't lay this out well. I want to be able to go from a form listing assets (AssetID, Name, DateOfPurch, etc.) to a sub form listing maintenance records (MaintRecID, AssetID, DateOfMaint, etc) for that particular assets. So, I would only want to see in the subform items for the particular asset in question. I can do this, but if I click the new icon, the user to manually assign the new record to the asset. I would like it to be automatically linked. So, if the form comes up filtered, could new records use that filter to auto-fill/link, populate the field?

2. COSo, I tried creating a blank form, with a couple hidden and a couple user controls. I created a DataMacro that takes parameters and creates a new record in the maintenance table. However, I'm having trouble finding documentation on getting a list box (two columns, one 0" width has the ID, 1" width has the description to be visible) to pass the ID to the data macro. Considering the lack of info online, and response here, it seems that it would be easier to scrap the Web database (and Sharepoint) and just write an ASP.Net app from scratch like I've done in the past.

A row detail

Related data can be related in a to-one or a to-many fashion. Captions of data related in a to-many fashion link to a list view showing a filtered view of the table.

Try moving around until you find a non-empty to-many entry and click on the label to get to one. You can move back to the root by clicking on the database name in the header.
