COof course, you can read more here http://weblogs.asp.net/pwelter34/archive/2006/05/03/444961.aspx for some reason the interface IDictionary and so the class Dictionary are not serializable in xml so if you want to serialize a Dictionary you should write your own implementation of a serializable Dictionary, on your case the property public Dictionary<String, DateTime> TimeLogs will become public SerializableDictionary<String, DateTime> TimeLogs
