<p>The little gap to the left/right is added by the framework since the default <code>windowTitleBackgroundStyle</code> in the <a href="https://github.com/android/platform_frameworks_base/blob/master/core/res/res/values/themes.xml" rel="nofollow">standard theme</a> used a <a href="https://github.com/android/platform_frameworks_base/blob/master/core/res/res/drawable/title_bar.xml" rel="nofollow">9-patch drawable</a> with that <a href="https://github.com/android/platform_frameworks_base/blob/master/core/res/res/drawable-hdpi/activity_title_bar.9.png" rel="nofollow">padding</a>.
