    <p>No, the virtual address space of a process is not necessarily contiguous. In the old days, a process obtained memory through <a href="http://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/online/pages/man2/brk.2.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer"><code>brk</code></a>, which indeed forced the process heap to be a contiguous zone of memory.
