    2. CO@jcm: Probably there are misunderstanding already in your question. The event handler `beforeShowForm` will be used only in case of form editing. Either you somewhere in your code call `editGridRow` function or you add "Edit" button in the pager with respect of `navGrid` function (for example with `$("#list").jqGrid('navGrid','#pager');`). If you have another situation, that the name of event handler should be **not** `beforeShowForm`. Could you explain more what kind of editing you use and how the code looks like?

    3. CO`editGridRow()` is being called by another piece of code. It's not being called from the pager bar. I need to override the `beforeShowForm` even for an external `editGridRow()` call. The grid is being created by another piece of code that I cannot change.

A row detail

Detail views are divided into sections. All the information in the data section comes from columns in the selected row. The other sections display data from other, related rows.

Related data can be related in a to-one or a to-many fashion. Captions of data related in a to-many fashion link to a list view showing a filtered view of the table.

Try moving around until you find a non-empty to-many entry and click on the label to get to one. You can move back to the root by clicking on the database name in the header.
