    1. COWith respect, this will never work. Programmers and testers are born enemies. None of the programmers are going to volunteer to have their "pet" projects scrutinized by some minimum-wage QA punk. The tester's job is to find fault with the programmer.

    2. COThe attitude that programmers and testers are born enemies is counter-productive. There should be healthy conflict, but not animosity. There is a huge difference between a true QA person (i.e. one who understands the domain and software) vs. a tester. Good QA people do *not* work for minimum wage. They also have a good rapport with development. Each side needs to understand the other and know that they are on the same team. Having been both in Dev and QA I have never had a problem with animosity between groups.

As a QA/tester (I use tester in the sense that ssakl is using it to mean QA, I think), I have to say if you've got that kind of attitude problem in the team, any tester coming in is really going to have difficulty in getting productive. How are you going to support them? If you don't, they'll likely run aground and then you'll never convince management that with a little support, they could have done good work. I have never seen myself as an enemy of the programmers I work with. My job isn't to find fault, it's lookout - I sing out when I see a reef ahead so we don't both run aground.
