    <p>Your first example is doing one level of recursion, so you're getting TextBoxes that are more than one control deep in the control tree. The second example only gets top-level TextBoxes (which you likely have few or none).</p> <p>The key here is that the <code>Controls</code> collection is not every control on the page - rather, it is only the <strong>immediate child controls</strong> of the current control (and a <code>Page</code> is a type of <code>Control</code>). <em>Those</em> controls may in turn have child controls of their own. To learn more about this, read about the <a href="http://aspalliance.com/943" rel="noreferrer">ASP.NET Control Tree here</a> and about <a href="http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.inamingcontainer.aspx" rel="noreferrer">NamingContainers here</a>.     1. COOk, but what do you mean by top-level TextBoxes? My textboxes are just "normal" textboxes in a form..

    2. CO@Svein see my updated answer. Your web form is a tree of controls - controls which contain controls which contain controls, and so on. "Top level" means controls that live at the very top, or outermost level, of the hierarchy.

A row detail

Detail views are divided into sections. All the information in the data section comes from columns in the selected row. The other sections display data from other, related rows.

Related data can be related in a to-one or a to-many fashion. Captions of data related in a to-many fashion link to a list view showing a filtered view of the table.

Try moving around until you find a non-empty to-many entry and click on the label to get to one. You can move back to the root by clicking on the database name in the header.

SQuiL has stopped working due to an internal error.

If you are curious you may find further information in the browser console, which is accessible through the devtools (F12).
