POPrograme built with Visual Studio 2005 on XP won't run on Win7

    <p>I wrote a simple MFC application with Visual Studio 2005 on Windows XP. The generated exe file works well on XP, but when I run it on Win7, it comes with an error bellow: <img src="https://i.stack.imgur.com/3mWbF.png" alt="enter image description here"></p> <p>I searched this problem, the most common solution is to right click on the exe file， and choose run on compatible mode. With this operation, the programe can run on Win7 and work well. But can I fix this problem more proactive? For I don't want to tell every user that " sorry, my baby can only run on compatible mode on Win7, you have to balabala..."</p> <p><strong>update:</strong> after debug on Win7 it shows:</p> <p><img src="https://i.stack.imgur.com/Ngt8o.png" alt="enter image description here"></p> <p>updating KernelBase.dll could not help, anyone know about it more???</p>

    1. COYou need to debug on Win7 to see exactly which parts of the program are causing the problem, then recode these in a way that's acceptable to both operating systems. There are a lot of things that are changed by compatibility mode so it's difficult to suggest without seeing the specific code that breaks on Win7.
