    <p>I'm using C++ to create a tile map for a game. My problem is, I want to populate a multidimensional array of ints in the Map constructor, but it's not working properly.     1. COIf you are not going to change the array values from object to object, then what you really need is a *static* member array. See the answer by Mads.

    2. COIf they are all sequential numbers, it might be simpler just to write a loop (a two-dimensional array is contiguous in memory, so you don't even need nested loops). (If these values are not going to change, it might be cheaper to compute them than to look them up.)
