However it still contains interesting chapters like <a href="https://www.sourceware.org/autobook/autobook/autobook_117.html#Writing-Portable-Bourne-Shell" rel="nofollow noreferrer" title="Writing Portable Bourne Shell">Writing Portable Bourne Shell</a>.</p> <p>Also, consider learning about <a href="http://www.flameeyes.eu/autotools-mythbuster/automake/nonrecursive.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer" title="Non-recursive Automake">non-recursive automake</a> which addresses the concerns raised by Peter Miller in his <a href="http://aegis.sourceforge.net/auug97.pdf" rel="nofollow noreferrer" title="Recursive Make Considered Harmful">Recursive Make Considered Harmful</a> article.</p> <p>EDIT: for reference, there is also <a href="http://markuskimius.wikidot.com/programming:tut:autotools/" rel="nofollow noreferrer">Autotools Tutorial for Beginners</a>.</p>
