    <p>So given a two dimensional array (actually an <code>ArrayList&lt;ArrayList&lt;Object&gt;&gt;</code>) of raw data as such:</p> <pre><code>A B C D E Bob null 42 null null Sam null 38 blue 0 Tom null 35 brown null </code></pre> <p>The java tablemodel I'm contemplating writing would automatically collapse Column B. </p> <p>I've tried a google search for something open source but I haven't had much luck. Does something like this already exist?</p> <p>In my particular use case, I have hundreds of columns and thousands of rows. At least 30 percent of the columns (sometimes more) are null. However from one query to the next, the columns that are blank can vary. The user understandable is frustrated with scrolling left and right over a sea of blank columns.</p> <p>Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. I'm also concerned about performance.</p> <p>-Dennis</p>

    2. COAh sorry, I should have put more than just the java tag. It would be something I implement as a java abstract tablemodel. I'll update the text.

    3. COMaybe you could search for a table model which maintains a list of used column values (for table filters, comboboxes). That should readily be adaptable to full removal.

A row detail

Detail views are divided into sections. All the information in the data section comes from columns in the selected row. The other sections display data from other, related rows.

Related data can be related in a to-one or a to-many fashion. Captions of data related in a to-many fashion link to a list view showing a filtered view of the table.

Try moving around until you find a non-empty to-many entry and click on the label to get to one. You can move back to the root by clicking on the database name in the header.
