I have an <code>Activity</code> in Android, with two elements: <ol> <li><code>EditText</code> </li> <li><code>ListView</code></li> </ol> When my <code>Activity</code> starts, the <code>EditText</code> immediately has input focus (flashing cursor). I don't want any control to have input focus at startup. I tried: <pre><code>EditText.setSelected(false); </code></pre> No luck. How can I convince the <code>EditText</code> to not select itself when the <code>Activity</code> starts?

1. COBefore you use any of the upvoted hacks below, check if you don't have the `<requestFocus />` line in your XML layout (more details in [@floydaddict's answer](http://stackoverflow.com/a/9681809/18745)). Eclipse's WYSIWYG editor adds it automatically. After removing this line, the problem disappeared for me.
