    <p>Im initializing a data.frame as the following:</p> <pre><code>combdat &lt;- data.frame(matrix(nrow=50), check.names=FALSE) </code></pre> <p>In a loop I want now to fill in additional columns. This happens like this:</p> <pre><code>combdat[,mkr] &lt;- mkrgeno </code></pre> <p>Where mkr is a certain character and mkrgeno a vector of the same size. However there are certain values for mkr which are the same. I need to keep them. Right now they will just be overwritten. Athough I set check.names=FALSE</p> <p>Do anybody has an advice for me. I want to do this of course for all markers in markerinfo. However as you can see there are a few markers in duplicate form. Nevertheless these should be considered as different markers and still have a column.
