PODjango: Finding maximum pair of rows within a certain table

copied!<p>I'm trying to find the best solution in django ORM to the typical problem of finding best combinations of related data. I have the following models:</p> <pre><code>class Player (models.Model): nickname = models.CharField(max_length=200) class Match (models.Model): winner = models.IntegerField() class MatchPlayer(models.Model): player = models.ForeignKey(Player) match = models.ForeignKey(Match) team = models.IntegerField() </code></pre> <p>So, essentially we have matches of a certain game where two teams with more than 1 person each, play against each other, and there's always 1 winner (1 team, several players). </p> <p>Teams don't have a fixed roster, that is, players that play as allies in a game, may play as enemies in the next game (or not play at all).</p> <p>I want to find the PAIR of players (or, ideally, in a more general form, any N players) with the highest win % whenever they play together (or again, ideally, pairs of players and their win %), in django.</p> <p>Normally in SQL I'd join the player table with itself where matchplayer_1.match=matchplayer_2.match and matchplayer_1.player!=matchplayer_2.player grouping by both players fields and getting info about match.winner. However in Django, as far as I know, I can't arbitrarily join a table with itself if there's no explicit relationship in the model.</p> <p>Is there a way to work around this problem?</p> <p>Thanks in advance!</p> <p>Bruno</p> <p><em>(Update: added models above)</em></p>
