copied!
I have been using QtCreator for awhile, went back to KDevelop & discovered that the class wizard does not work at all. I am only after a basic Template but none of them seem to work anyway.

I found this website: http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/KDevelop/Creating_a_class_template

& followed the instructions, but to no avail - just 2 blank lines in the .h & .cpp files.

AFAIK I have the latest version of KDevelop. Couldn't find much documentation on KDevelop site, apart from the manual which says what to do, but not how to fix when it doesn't work.

Any ideas on what to do next? Thanks in advance :+)

EDIT:

It seems that this feature is not working yet, according to a post in the KDevelop forum. Not sure why I didn't see that before posting here. Maybe I should downgrade - I was sure this stuff worked in earlier versions.

Without trying to sound like a whinger, I find this a little irritating. Creating classes & their .h & .cpp files with functions stubs & all the other stuff, should be like breathing for a C++ coder. Therefore IMO any IDE should have this process as complete & automated as possible.

The best I have seen is code::blocks, but that too seems far from what it could be.

Maybe I should make my own plug-in, or join in with a group. I am most familiar with Qt, so I will try that.

Sorry for a wall of opinion & criticism- I must really sound like a whinger after all, hopefully haven't landed myself in too much strife !!
