    copied!<p>I have a c# project dll reference to a file that is "installed" beneath the [Program Files] directory on 32 bit OS and the [Program Files (x86)] directory on 64 bit OS. I'd like for developers with 32 bit OS's to be able to build with the same csproj file(s) as those on 64 bit OS's. This means I need to conditionally reference the appropriate root folder. I've attempted to do this within the element as follows:</p> <pre><code> &lt;Reference Condition="$(ProgramFiles(x86)) == 'C:\Program Files (x86)'" Include="Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.WPF"&gt; &lt;HintPath&gt;..\..\..\Program Files (x86)\Bing Maps WPF Control\V1\Libraries\Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.WPF.dll&lt;/HintPath&gt; &lt;/Reference&gt; &lt;Reference Condition="'$(ProgramFiles(x86))' == ''" Include="Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.WPF"&gt; &lt;HintPath&gt;..\..\..\Program Files\Bing Maps WPF Control\V1\Libraries\Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.WPF.dll&lt;/HintPath&gt; &lt;/Reference&gt; </code></pre> <p>Unfortunately the HintPath is <em>always</em> resolved to [Program Files] so it appears that the first condition is not satisfied even on a host machine running 64 bit Windows. I've verified from the command line (via ECHO) that %ProgramFiles(x86)% indeed has the value [C:\Program Files (x86)] on the 64 bit machine.</p> <p>What am I missing here? Why doesn't that first condition evaluate true on Win 64?</p> <p>Thanks in advance, Bill</p>
